Winterfest Schedule 2020
Wednesday January 8th, 2020 All things Winterfest - Video to the Advisory Classes
Thursday January 9th, 2020 Winterfest Court Voting - Class based, only voting for one male & one female in own class to represent court. Voting Open from 3rd Period til the end of Lunch
Friday January 10th, 2020 Winterfest Rally Red & White Spirit Day Class Competitions include: Gym Decorations, Shopping Cart, Spirit as a Class
Sunday January 12th, 2020 Window Decorations from 12-4pm Judging will occur Monday morning at 7:30am on January 13th, 2020
Monday January 13th, 2020 Freshmen Movie - Space Jam Dress in Athletic Clothing or the Class Color Blue
Tuesday January 14th, 2020 Sophomore Movie - Fantasia Dress in your favorite Disney attire or the Class Color Yellow
Wednesday January 15th, 2020 Junior Movie - The Great Gatsby Dress in formal attire or the Class Color Green
Thursday January 16th, 2020 Senior Movie - Grease Dress in 50's style clothing from the movie or the Class Color Orange
Friday January 17th, 2020 BLACK FRIDAY Vote for the most spirit Male & Female of Winterfest 2020. Voting opens 3rd period and will close at the end of lunch.
The Most Spirited will be revealed at the halftime show of the Varsity Boys Basketball game against Escalon.
Spirit Day Points, includes Spirit at Rally on 1.10.19
Each class may earn Spirit Day points for its participation in that day. Each day is judged by the percentage of students in each class that dresses according to the theme/color of the day. The teacher is the “judge” of whether a student counts as being dressed up along with the spirit commissioners who will take spirit counts each day during 5th period.. To earn points for the class a student must be wearing outer apparel that is appropriate for the theme/color and school. The class that has the largest percentage of students dressed up will win the highest point values for the day. There are a total of 6 spirit days to compete for during Winterfest. Each place will be awarded the following points each day:
1st place = 5 points
2nd place = 4 points
3rd place = 3 points
4th place = 2 points
Gym Decorations 1.10.19
1st Place = 7
2nd Place = 6
3rd Place = 5
4th Place = 4
Decorations will occur from 7:00am-8:30am on January 10th, 2020. This will be the only time to decorate your area in the gym.
The decorations for the gym should be associated with the class theme and color of the week and will be judged accordingly.
Decorations may be put up in the areas designated by each class in the gym for rallies.
Students must use safe measures to put up the decorations in the gym.
Nothing is to be permanently affixed to the school buildings.NO STAPLES/STAPLE GUN or DUCT Tape is to be used in the gym. No damage will occur to the artwork present in the gym and floor. If damage occurs, the class will pay for the costs out of their accounts.
Each class must purchase their own BLUE MASKING TAPE! Student Council will not provide it for you.
Decorations are to be appropriate for an educational setting and will NOT include inappropriate pictures, language, or gestures. If a judge or staff member must remove something they deem offensive the class will be disqualified from the class decoration event.
Decorations are to be completely removed from the gym. Any trash that is a result of the decorations is the responsibility of the class to pick up.
If there is any litter or decorations left after the rally, the class will be disqualified from the decoration competition.
Shopping Cart Competition 1.10.19
1st Place = 10 points
2nd Place = 8 points
3rd Place = 6 points
4th Place = 5 points
Any group found working on the shopping cart during school hours will be disqualified from the competition.
A limit of $100 is to be spent on materials used to create the shopping cart.
Your group will be required to find a business willing to let you borrow their shopping cart for the event and then return in the same condition. If the business believes the cart does not return in the same condition, then that group will be responsible for paying for any damages or replacement of cart. **YOU MAY NOT take a shopping cart without permission. REQUIRED: a letter from said business allowing you to borrow cart.
Carts should be related to the Winterfest theme Lights, Camera, Action! or their class color theme.
No photography, video, sabotage, trespassing, etc. from one class to another will be tolerated. The result could be disqualification.
The shopping cart will be on display at the rally on Friday, January 10th, 2020. It must be in the North Gym by 7am. Judges will look at cart for final review at the rally.
Window Decoration Rules 1.12.19
1st Place = 7
2nd Place = 6
3rd Place = 5
4th Place = 4
The decorations for the window should be associated with the class theme and color of the week and will be judged accordingly.
Each class must purchase their own supplies! Student Council will not provide it for you.
Nothing is to be permanently affixed to the property (i.e. staple gun, glue guns, stickers, duct tape, etc.)
Decorations are to be appropriate for an educational setting and will NOT include inappropriate pictures, language, or gestures. If a judge or staff member must remove something they deem offensive the class will be disqualified from the class decoration event.
All decorations are to be put up the Sunday January 12th, 2020 from 12-4pm.. You can check your window decorations from 7-7:30am Monday January 13th period to judging. Advisor/parent supervision required.
The decorations must be taken down Friday afternoon by noon on January 17th, 2020 or class will be ineligible to win the competition.
JUDGING of windows will take place January 13th, 2020 at 7:30am.
If there is any litter or decorations left that class will be disqualified from the decoration competition. A formal apology letter will be written if necessary.
Candidate Expectations
Congratulations! You have just received one of the highest honors the student body can bestow on their fellow classmates. As a member of the Winterfest Court there are some expectations that you need to be aware of while participating in this week’s events. It is an honor to be nominated by your peers; therefore, you are expected to participate in all activities spirit days.
Spirit Days:
You are to wear your sash all week while attending school. Equally, you are to go "all out" in the spirit days. Please do not allow others to wear your sash during the time mentioned above. You owe it to your classmates to take the nomination seriously.
At morning break each day - you will meet Mrs. Mortensen to take a picture to be posted on Instagram for the student body to see the spirit you have created for each day. This will also be taken into account with the voting of the Most Spirited Male & Female of Winterfest 2020.
It is important that you participate in all spirit days.
Rallies:
You will be expected to participate in the game designed for the candidates during the rally.
Coronation:
You will be expected to attend the Basketball Game Friday Night January 17th, 2020 and participate in the halftime reveal.
