Session A Presentations & Descriptions

1. Brodie Kaster - Expanding Empathy With Technology
In 2008, adults spend an average of 18 minutes on their phones.  In 2015 it rose to an average of 2 hours and 48 minutes; 280 million people would be considered phone addicts. Through experiential learning activities we will discover the restrictions technology gives us to connect, and how we can combat our declining rates of empathy and connections on our campuses.

2. Kristin Lilly-Porter - New to ASB?
Come learn how to structure your class, and resources to organize your first year!

3. Melissa Edsall - Middle School Basics
New to Middle School activities? Need ideas on how to structure, grade and run your class? Want some curriculum ideas?  I'm here to help. If you've been around awhile this is the same as last year, so don't attend unless you want a refresher.

4. Allison Birakos -
Organization your class for events
Looking for new ways to organize your students for events?  Come check out how we use committees and categories at the high school level!

Session B Presentations & Descriptions

1. Katie Sanchez - Fundraising
I am Katie Sanchez, currently a VP at Martinez Junior High School.  I have been in this position for 5-years. During this time, I have shifted our ASB fundraising culture.  We currently earn over $30,000 with one fundraiser. Come on in and hear some different ways to earn some money for your ASB.

2. Lindsey Bannwarth & Deena Koral-Soto - Building a connection with your feeder schools!
When there is a connection between your feeder schools and your high school, you are training your prospective students, getting them excited about your program, along with giving your students more leadership opportunities. Join us to explore the possibilities, ideas, and example activities you can do at your school.

3. Sara Quinero - Appreciation!!!
Are you looking for ways to show appreciation to staff and students? Then this presentation is perfect for you! It will cover several different ways you can recognize your students and staff at the middle and high school level.

4.
Ron Ippolito - YouTube and School Culture
Create amazingly simple videos that will help promote your activities program and build school culture. First I will show you the gear that my students and I use (it's all easy-to-use and inexpensive), and then I will show you the practices we put in place to make our workflow easy and our job as leaders fun!

Session C Presentations & Descriptions

1. Tamara Givens - Classroom Organization & Grading
The Student Government class can be chaotic, but that doesn't mean it can't be organized!  This session will give tips for keeping your class and students organized on a daily basis, and also will discuss ways to keep grading more objective and less subjective using rubrics--because you don't get an A just for breathing in Student Government!

2. Melissa LeFevre - How to run a Middle School Class
New to middle school student leadership? Walk away with activities and lessons that you can use Monday in the classroom

3. Lindsey Bannwarth - Lunchtime Activities & Red Ribbon Week Activities (K-12)
Join us for new ideas for lunchtime activities that emphasis kindness, team-building, and leadership, that can work in K-12 settings. We will also discuss ways to address the growing problems of vaping with Red Ribbon Week lunchtime activities.

4.
Jeff Culver - CADA Camps Curriculum Focus: Vision
As a student leadership organization, it's important to figure out the purpose and overall intention of the organization before creating committees and planning events. Students can work through four questions to create a clear vision for personal or organizational goals. Take a look at one component of the 2019 CADA Leadership Camps curriculum with a focus on the Vision Lesson, which can be used in your leadership class to help set goals and a plan for the year.
