Spirit Competition between Classes

1. Spirit Day Points - 6 total days!

Each class may earn Spirit Day points for its participation on that day.  Each day is judged by the percentage of students in each class that dresses according to the theme/color of the day.  The SPIRIT COMMISSIONERS will take spirit counts during 4th period daily. Results will be posted to our Instagram page @asbofriponhighschool. 
 
1st place = 5 points
 
2nd place = 4 points
 ​
3rd place = 3 points
 
4th place = 2 points
 
Spirit Counts will be taken during 4th period daily.

2. Spirit & Rallies by each Class - 2 total, 9.23.21 & 9.28.21

Each class will be judged based on their overall participation and support within the rally. Each category is worth 5 total points. The categories include:
1. Loudness during “yell” competitions
2. Whole Class Participation for entire rally
3. Sportsmanship/Support

3. Night Rally Lip Sync Rules - Thursday 9.23.21

1st place = 10pts
 
2nd place = 8pts
 
3rd place = 7pts
 
4th place = 6pts


  • The lip sync song choice must be approved, not contain any poor language or insinuate poor behavior.  
  • The Lip Sync may have music, dialog, props, costumes, and/or backdrops. Must follow the school dress code and be appropriate based on the rules of the school handbook.
  • The lip sync must be choreographed and be appropriate for a school setting.
  • Students that participate in the lip sync MUST be members of that class.
  • The performance must be appropriate for an educational setting.  The performance should not have any foul pictures, props, language, music or gestures.
  • If the lip sync is judged to be inappropriate by any member of the school staff, the classes’ performance will be disqualified and will receive 0 points. Discipline can be given if deemed necessary.
  • Song choices must be turned into Mrs. Mortensen by Thursday, September 16th, 2021.

4. Poster Front of School Competition - Monday 9.27.21

1st Place = 7
 
2nd Place = 6
 
3rd Place = 5
 
4th Place = 4
 
  • The decorations for the poster should be associated with the class theme and color of the week and will be judged accordingly. 
  • Each class must purchase their own supplies!  Student Council will not provide it for you.
  • Nothing is to be permanently affixed to the property (i.e. staple gun, glue guns, stickers, duct tape, etc.)
  • Decorations are to be appropriate for an educational setting and will NOT include inappropriate pictures, language, or gestures.  If a judge or staff member must remove something they deem offensive the class will be disqualified from the class decoration event. 
  • The poster is to be placed in front of the school by 8am for judging. 
  • The poster must be taken down daily and put back up each morning. The poster must be dismanttled and taken away by Friday afternoon after decorations for the football field. 
  • If there is any litter or decorations left that class will be disqualified from the decoration competition.  A formal apology letter will be written if necessary.

5. Window Decoration Competition - Thursday 9.30.21

1st Place = 7
 

2nd Place = 6
 
3rd Place = 5
 
4th Place = 4
 
  • The decorations for the window should be associated with the class theme and color of the week and will be judged accordingly.

  • JUDGING of windows will take place at 8am on Thursday 9.30.21
  • If there is any litter or decorations left that class will be disqualified from the decoration competition.  A formal apology letter will be written if necessary.
  • You must formally ask the teacher in the quad area to use two of their four windows: Gillihan, Sikma, Ross & Kissee. First come will get said window area. 

6. Float Competition Rules

1st Place = 10 points
 
2nd Place = 8 points
 
3rd Place = 6 points
 
4th Place = 5 points
 
  • Any group found working on the float or parade entry during school hours will be disqualified from the competition and/or participating in the parade.
  • Floats will be excluded from the parade if not present by 1:30 pm at the Almond Valley Christian Reformed Church located at 333 S Wilma Ave, Ripon, CA 95366 on Friday, October 1st, 2021
  • A limit of $400 is to be spent on materials used to create the float.
  • There must be a fire extinguisher on the float or in the vehicle pulling the float (if the judges are not shown the fire extinguisher the float will be disqualified from the competition.)
  • Floats should be related to the Homecoming theme Ripon High School Returns to Disney-Land, their class color theme and/or the Varsity Football Game versus Riverbank.
  • No photography, video, sabotage, trespassing, etc. from one class to another will be tolerated.  The result could be disqualification.
  • A MAXIMUM of five people are allowed to ride on the float, however, students may walk along side of the float.
  • Candy and small toys may be handed out to spectators but they are NOT TO BE THROWN FROM THE VEHICLE OF THE FLOAT.
  • Only licensed adults (23 years or older) are permitted to drive vehicles entered in the parade.

Parade Entry Regulations

RHS Parade is Friday October 1st, 2021 @ 2:30pm
  • All those planning to participate in the parade must have an entry form turned in to Mortensen by September 24th, 2021 @ 3pm, via google form.
  • All drivers of vehicles must submit a driver’s agreement form with a copy of their current driver’s license and insurance by Friday, September 24th, 2021@ 3pm.
  • All those participating must have their parade entry at Almond Valley Church located at 333 S Wilma Ave, Ripon, CA 95366 by 1:30p.m.
  • Each vehicle entered must have a sign on either side identifying the group it represents.
  • Any group found working on the float or parade entry during school hours will be disqualified from the competition and or participating in the parade.
  • Entry will be excluded from the parade if not present by 1:30pm.
  • There must be a fire extinguisher on the vehicle pulling any trailers.
  • Entries should be related the homecoming theme, class theme, or the varsity football game.
  • Candy and small toys may be handed out to spectators but they are not to be thrown from the vehicle or trailer.
  • Only licensed adults over the age of 23 are permitted to drive vehicles entered in the parade and halftime events.

Driver Agreement Information

Ripon High would like to thank you for your support by driving during the parade and/or the homecoming halftime events.  Please read the following guidelines before signing the agreement on the reverse
1.  All drivers
  • Must be over the age of 23, have a current CA driver’s license, and current insurance to drive a vehicle in any homecoming event.  The driver must submit proof of this to the school office.
  • The driver may have one other passenger in the vehicle during the parade.
2.   Homecoming Royalty, King & Queen Drivers during Parade
  • It is the responsibility of the King/Queen Candidates to get their own vehicle for the parade. It is suggested that the King Candidate and Queen Candidate pairs work together to find their vehicle for the parade.
  • Vehicles will need to be at Almond Valley Church located at 333 S Wilma Ave, Ripon, CA 95366 no later than 1:30PM to be ready for the parade.
3.  Float Drivers
  • Float drivers are responsible for arriving in Almond Valley Church located at 333 S Wilma Ave, Ripon, CA 95366 by 1:30pm on Friday, October 1st, 2021 for the parade.  A parade line up will be provided when you arrive.
  • Only five students are permitted on the float during the parade
  • A fire extinguisher must be within the truck or on the float at all times​

Royalty Expectations

Congratulations!  You have just received one of the highest honors the student body can bestow on their fellow classmates. As a member of the Homecoming Court there are some expectations that you need to be aware of while participating in this week’s events. It is an honor to be nominated by your peers; therefore, you are expected to participate in all homecoming activities during the week.
Spirit Days:
  • You are to wear your tiara/medallion and candidate sash during all homecoming activities and while attending school. Please do not allow others to wear these items during the time mentioned above. You owe it to your classmates to take the nomination seriously.
  • It is important that you participate in all spirit days.
Rallies:
  • You will be expected to participate in any skits and/or games designed for the candidates during the rallies.
Speeches:
  • You will be expected to deliver a speech that includes:
1.What does this nomination mean to you?
2.What is one of your favorite memories about being a member of the RHS Tribe?
3.If you could express gratitude to one person in this moment, who would it be and why?  
  • Please refrain from mentioning every friend you have or know. 
  • Please be on time and dressed appropriately for the speech. No shorts, jeans, sweats, or dress code violations.
King & Queen Coronation:
  • Complete the “Candidate Interview Form”. This is for the script that will be read during coronation. Deadline: candidate interview forms is Monday, September 27th, 2021 to Mrs. Ochoa
  • Coronation practice will be on Wednesday, September 29th @ 4pm with Mrs. Ochoa/Mrs. Mortensen on the football field. It is extremely important that at least one of your parents attend as well. 
  • You are to be at the Powderpuff game by 6:00 p.m. to participate in the halftime King & Queen Coronation.
  • Please dress appropriately. No shorts, jeans, sweats, or dress code violations.
Parade:
  • It is the responsibility of the King and Queen Candidate pairs to get a vehicle for the parade. Cars are required to be at Almond Valley Church located at 333 S Wilma Ave, Ripon, CA 95366 by 1:30PM on October 1st, 2021
  • All candidates please dress as you would during coronation. The elementary students and Bethany Home residents enjoy seeing you look your best. DO NOT FORGET YOU CROWN/TIARA AND YOUR SASH. The King & Queen should be in his robe & crown.
  • Candidates can be excused at lunch to prepare for the parade, but please have a parent call in to excuse you. You are to check out in the Attendance Office before leaving.
  • You are to be ready and at the Almond Valley Church located at 333 S Wilma Ave, Ripon, CA 95366 by 1:30PM SHARP to ride in the parade.​

Advisor Expectations

Head Class Advisors:
 - Help class officers organize their responsibilities for Homecoming week.
  • Night Rally Lip Sync
  • Class Poster Day – Must have adult present during this time period.
  • Window Decorations
  • Float
-  Organizes the class advisors to assist with supervision of building the class float, helping with Poster Day, and Window Day.
-  Make the arrangements with the parents who are sponsoring the building of the float.  Ask what help they may need, what hours they want the students to work on the float, explain that they should not spend any of their own money.  Explain all money should come out of the class account and there are procedures that must be followed.  Also let them know if there are any problems they should call you immediately because school rules are to be followed during all hours of float construction.
Class Advisors/ Teachers
  • Assist with judging events (decoration days, floats, rallies).
  • Assist with supervision of building the class float.
  • Attend and supervise all rallies.
  • May assist with the theme decorations on the class assigned day.
    • Freshmen= Monday
    • Sophomores= Tuesday
    • Juniors = Wednesday
    • Seniors= Thursday
  • May assist students with the class skit

Schedule & Locations (outside)
1. Pep Rally - Grand Marshal & Court Reveal - Thursday, September 23rd
    * Thursday Block Schedule, event to occur during Advisory on the Football Field. Seniors bring lawn chair or blanket. Juniors & Sophomores will sit on the Home side bleachers, Freshmen will sit on the Visitor side bleachers. 
2. Night Rally - Thursday, September 23rd @ 7pm at the Amphitheater
3. Candidate Rally - Tuesday, September 28th, schedule pending
     * Voting for King & Queen to occur after rally, voting open til the end of lunch. 
4. Powder Puff & Coronation - Wednesday, September 29th @ 6:30pm located on the Football Field
​5. Parade Minimum Day - Friday October 1st starting at 2:30pm, schedule pending, Map of Parade to be posted soon.
